Colt Call: October 9, 2018

We’ve had a great week at CFHS.  Our 50th Homecoming Game with all of the festivities is in the book and we want to congratulate our Varsity and JV teams for their wins over Westover. Way to go COLTS!   Mrs. Phipps asked that I thank everyone who helped in any way with the coordination and support of all of our Homecoming Activities, from the dance to the parade to the game, we could not have done it without you!  The COLT NATION ROCKS   Congratulations to our Homecoming Court and our King and Queen.  2nd runner up was Savannah Talton and J’Velus Peterson, 1st runner up: Emma Wright and Austin Hunt, and our 2018 Homecoming King and Queen is Ja’Kira Parks and TJ Carroll.
Congratulations to the Marching Colts for their outstanding performance at the Heart Of Carolina Invitational. They won First Place Drum Majors, First Place Color Guard, First Place Music and First Place overall in Class 4A.
Congratulations to the following orchestra members who were selected to the Cumberland County Youth Orchestra based on their successful audition recently:  Kaitlynn Davis, cello; Jonathan Piland, violin; Jacob Petersen, viola; Emily Rogers, cello; Alissa Sutton, bass.  Outstanding job!  Also, the orchestra will have its first concert of the year on Monday, October 15 at 7 pm in the auditorium, so come out and hear all of our talented orchestra students!
The Mid Semester Chorus Concert will be Thursday October 11 at 7:00 PM. All students must be an stage and dressed no later than 6:30 to warm-up and receive final instructions. All fees relating to concert attire must be paid no later than Wednesday October 10 at 3:45 PM.  Please see Mr. Britt if you have any questions.
 The Harvard Model Congress is still looking for 3 more young men and 5 more young ladies to attend. Please stop by Rm 210, that’s  Coach Mac’s room for more information.
From Mrs. Shook: There will be an interest meeting for the swim team Tuesday, October 9th after school in room 211. It will last until 4:15.
From Mrs. Parker  to all Beta members – our first meeting will be this Wednesday at 7:45 am or 3:50 pm in the media center – please plan to attend one of the meetings
Seniors and Parents,
October is College Application Month. Mark your calendars now for our CFHS Senior Parent Night. It will be held on Tuesday, October 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Auditorium. College representatives will meet with you and your Senior. You will learn how to apply for financial aid, complete the RDS and much more. You do not want to miss this special event!  Again, the Parent Night is October 23.
Seniors will also have an opportunity to apply to various colleges the week of October 15; please sign up for a computer reservation in Student Services by October 12.
And finally:
In celebration of Kindness Awareness Month, CFHS invites students to bring in Juice boxes and cans of pop to the Front Office between now and October 25. Donations will go toward the Child Advocacy Center.
