Freshman Experience

Freshman Academy
Assistant Principal…. Mrs. Mary Price  Freshman Counselor…Mrs. Kimberly Carroll

Vision Statement … With cooperation from family and community, the freshman academy will create a supportive academic environment where students will develop skills and confidence necessary to achieve success now and into the future.

Challenges … We challenge each family member to be involved with your child’s education. We challenge each student to commit your self to being a high school graduate four years from today! We challenge ourselves to provide a learning environment conducive to producing a twenty-first century learner.

Freshman Orientation … is a planned informative program to assist students and reassure parents. Students are met by their mentors, members of the band, and cheerleaders as they enter the campus for the first time. This two hour orientation enables incoming freshmen to take a tour of the school, get their locker assignments, get their supply lists for each class, find out about clubs and organizations, meet our faculty and staff, and ask questions for clarity through individualized leadership of junior and senior mentors. Our mentors are supervised by Mrs. Kimberly Carroll and Mrs. Christy Parker.

Freshman Seminar … is a program we offer to incoming freshmen to equip our students with successful alternatives to time management, organization, writing, conflict, and academic rigor.

Planners and ID’s … every student receives a FREE planner. The planner contains general information, the attendance policy, rules and policies, procedures for discipline, the school schedule, a map of the school, and helpful academic resources. Students should have their planners and ID with them at all times. Planners contain their hall passes should they have an emergency and need to be dismissed. We ask our parents to take an active role in checking the planners for homework assignments and to contact teachers.

Involvement … a productive student is an involved student. We believe success means being actively involved in academics, athletics, arts, clubs, and organizations. Promoting participation keeps students actively, constructively engaged in their educational success.

With the partnership of parents, our faculty and staff can establish a stronger learning environment where students can strive to be informed, organized, and involved. Together we can make a difference.

Citizenship, community Outreach, developing future Leaders, celebrating Tradition and cultivating Success!
